FIXML in relation to the FIX 4.2 Spec

Imported from previous forum

Can anyone tell me the relationship between the FIX 4.2 spec and FIXML?

I’m trying to find out if any of the message formats (DTDs) are in any way linked to the message types in the spec.
I don’t think they are coupled (from an application message point). Is this correct?

James.

One of the goals of FIXML is to keep it in sync with the current specification. The FIXML Working Group is currently in the process of creating the next version of FIXML based on FIX 4.2.

The DTDs that are currently available map to the FIX 4.1 specficiation.

We intend to release the next version of FIXML (based on 4.2) in the June/July timeframe.
