February 10, 2004 FIX Protocol Ltd. (FPL) has announced the selection of certifiers for the FPL Sponsored Certification Program. The selected vendors include Aegis Software Inc., B2BITS, Javelin Technologies Inc., and TransactTools. In addition, FPL has entered an agreement with Brook Path Partners Inc., a consulting services firm focusing exclusively on investment technology, to develop the fixed income certification test scripts. FPL’s Certification Program will focus on application layer testing for fixed income based on FIX 4.4 specifications and will also include session layer testing for FIX version 4.0 through 4.4.
Initially, the Certification Program will have a pilot period for three to six months which will involve collecting industry feedback both on the program and test scripts. Goals of the program include: reducing the cost and effort to implement and use the FIX protocol; promoting the quality and consistency of FIX implementations; and streamlining the process of implementing new FIX counterparty relationships.
