Java developer to join the European Client Connectivity team based in London.
Description of IT service
The European client connectivity team develops and supports electronic trading systems. The systems are used by clients to access both Worked Order and Direct Market Access (DMA) products. The technology currently used includes: JAVA, and the FIX protocol (APPIA Fix engine). The role will initially focus on the new JAVA based DMA products. Candidate must have demonstrable experience in developing highly multithreaded, performance critical, resilient code.
General
Ideally, the candidate will come from a Financial Services background and will have worked in the industry for at least 2 years and have demonstrable knowledge of European financial systems (preferably equity trading systems).
Outline of role
· Development and maintenance of highly concurrent, mission critical, performance critical java code.
· Third level support for production environment
· Enhancements/bug fixes to existing infrastructure
· Early morning support , on call support
· Interaction with business to assist problem identification
· Multiple incident co-ordination & prioritisation (triage)
· Maintenance of bug-tracking database (currently BUGZILLA)
Requirements
Technical Knowledge
Essential
· JAVA - 2-3 years, including significant multithreaded development for Tier 1 systems
· Shell scripting
· UNIX / LINUX - forensics performance analysis, trace system calls etc
· FIX protocol - 4.0 / 4.2
· JMX, Junit, Ant, Jprobe, CVS, UML, log4j
· Distributed system design
