How can I learn about FIX/FIX4.X protocol ???

Do I need to take courses/classes. Any imput offered would be great.

There is a detailed, 4-part Powerpoint called "FIX/FIXML Training Class" given in Feb 2001 within "More Information", "Presentations" which you might find useful.
