The majority of banks/brokers can take FX orders in via FIX. Here is a starter list that support FIX/FX trading: BoA, Barclays, Bear Stearns, Commonwealth Bank Australia, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Lehman, Macquarie, Morgan Stanley, NetFonds Bank, Saxo Bank, UBS. I’m sure there are many more by now.

For backgrounding look at:

Try to avoid proprietary APIs and protocols (not FIX) unless you are absolutely sure you can live with being dead locked in with a specific bank/broker:

Also take a look at QuickFix/J and Marketcetera for some code and feature ideas from the open source community.

If your system needs are more substantial check out the “Who uses FIX” section of this site for FIX vendors who can hook you all over the place.
