Salutations

Imported from previous forum

pls could you check that none of the leaders who were added to the website with profiles in advance of the migration still have 'Professor' as their salutation - I would suggest we remove this option as such a small percentage of people may fall into this category. I needed to get an email address for 1 leader yesterday and they did still have this

When posting here please use your individual user profile rather than the program office so we can understand who is posting.

This issue is two-fold since all of the leaders who were manually migrated were done so without any personal information being included.  so in addition to changing their titles each profile needs to be manually updated with address, telephone etc. This is on a list to do, but not priority 1.

There are 12 instances where Professor is used.

We have modified the drop-down so it defaults to a "-" and an explicit selection is required to seelct anything else. Will send a list of the affected 12, and unless any are advised as actually being a Professor, we propose that we manually assign Mr/Mrs/Ms as appropriate. Will we offend anyone on Mrs/Ms distinction, or do you want us to adopt Ms as standard. Need to avoid reference to the Bureau of Births, Marriages and Deaths as a data source!

All professors demoted to correct designation, except the two who actually are!

Treating this isse as closed unless we hear of any other incidents!

Are these salutations even necessary?  I don't think this should be required in a user's profile anyway.

Yes, make the distinction between Mrs. and Ms. if this is to be set.

It isnt required, its an optional field. The default is blank. In some countries, ommission of the salutation is considered very offensive, so the provision of the possibility of using it is I think useful. In any case, it was fomally specified in requirements.
