Use of Confirmation Request (BH) for affirmed Confirmation (AK)

Hi All,
I wanted to check with the group and sell-side members on the usage of the FIX 4.4 Confirmation Request (MsgType=BH) message to request for affirmed Confirmation (MsgType=AK)? Would you prefer using ConfirmationRequest message to request for an affirmed Confirmation or prefer getting a Confirmation ACK (MsgType=AU) (in response to a previously sent Confirmation) for an affirmed Confirmation?
