As a Business Architect, you will design the
target business and application component
architecture model and assess the impact of the
future business architecture changes on existing
and future business architecture designs.
The role requires business and application
modeling experience and the ability to architect
solutions by mapping complex business issues to
reusable end-to end intelligent technology
solutions, while supporting the business and
technology group’s strategic direction .
You will be responsible for defining the business
architecutre and application
architecture, process workflows, and information
architecture from a black box architecture
perspective. You will work with the business and
other members of the software development team to
capture the requirements for future business
architecture changes and identify the techniques
and technologies that should be applied at the
application level. You will help define the
system and operational requirements that the
computing infrastructure must support and
identify, analyze and address any
inter-application dependencies and interfaces.
You will work with the other Architects to
determine the most appropriate application
partitioning to achieve the performance and
scalability requirements.
You will also identify approaches, timelines and
process for replacing
retiring applications with the future
applications. You will participate in business
and technology planning sessions and anticipate
future business and technology changes. You will
work with Application and Information Architects
to review application drivers, needs and
strategies and understand implications to the
business architecture. You will also work to
ensure consistency and integration with
architecture and business strategies,
recommending alternative solutions as well as
strategies for prioritizing and delivering the
solutions. You will also be asked to communicate
implications of business architecture decisions,
issues and plans to business and technology
leadership. As part of this role, you will
provide support and guidance to the development
teams during the analysis, development and
testing processes and work with related
technology areas, including a portal team, to
define user experience requirements. You will be
able to provide expert knowledge of business
architecture and consult to Business, Application
Archtiects and Technology teams when detailed
business architecture knowledge is needed, and
identify and mitigate risks to delivering
solution on time.
As a Technical Architect, you will assume the
following responsibilities:

• Defines scope, objectives, approach for
technical architecture project
• Reviews target business architecture and
understands implications for technical
architecture
• Provides support and guidance to the
development teams during the analysis,
development and testing processes
• Develops and evaluates technical architecture
framework
• Develops implementation and migration strategy
to ensure successful transition
• Produce documentation of functional
architecture design
• Document how application components can be
implemented for use in
• business systems, in terms of:
o their means of interaction/communication with
human and other
o components
o how application components
persist and make data accessible
o maintaining transactional integrity
o making access to their resources
secure
• Identifies the hardware and software components
the application will use for implementation and
provides instruction on how to implement
application components using the hardware and
software
• Determines where all hardware and software
components will be deployed
• Specifies risks associated with (business,
application, technical) component
implementation
• Consults with application development and
infrastructure teams, to plan the order and
content of successive releases of the application
components
• Conducts formal review with businesses to
confirm completion, acceptance and satisfaction
of deliverables
• Keeps up to date with the technical environment
and vendor practices, and anticipates forthcoming
technological changes practices
• Provides expert knowledge of technical
architecture, and consults with Business,
Operations and Technology teams
• Evaluates and recommends new industry
directions and approaches to other
architects
• Engages with senior Businesses, Operations and
Technology management to
• identify opportunities for:
o Improved technical
architectures
o Rationalization of the technology
portfolio
• Prepares solutions to implement the technical
architecture, and proactively identifies and
validates opportunities to share / re-use
existing components where possible
• Creates business alliances and leads joint
ventures with technology
• vendors, as appropriate
• Establishes strong working relationships with
senior Businesses, Operations and Technology
management
Qualifications
Very strong business and technical architecture
skills
Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to
influence senior level business and technology
partners
Minimum five years of Applications Architect
experience.
Strong skills in architecture methodologies
Minimum of seven years overall IT experience
Strong Knowledge of the UML and experience
working with the Rational Roze or MagicDraw
Knowledge of multiple modern development
languages including Java and C++.
Experience with agile development
methodologies/practices.
Development of security access management
solutions or broad experience of technical
security products in the e-commerce area
Knowledge of industry standard protocols such as
SAML, SPML, LDAP, Active Directory/Kerberos
Strong skills in project management methodologies
and tools, ability to organize, plan and carry
out complex deliverables.
Strong understanding and experience with business
information and process modeling and tools such
as XML, SQL, ErWin, BPMN, XPDL, BPEL.
Strong knowledge of operating environments
including Solaris and WebLogic.
Knowledge of Financial Markets and core
processes.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
and demonstrated ability to interact with all
technical and non technical members of the
organization.
High degree of motivation and adaptability in a
rapidly changing environment.
Ability to solve complex business and technical
design problems
Excellent customer-focused interpersonal skills,
facilitation skills and ability to communicate to
a wide range of people
Ability to take initiative, and work
independently and on several assignments
