Role Description

An experienced Business Analyst is required for trading & risk systems within the Fixed Income Bond & Credit markets working principally with Mortgage-Backed Securities.

The candidate will be responsible for liasing directly with business users (mainly front office trading staff) and performing the following:
• Initial business requirements analysis of current business processes/systems.
• Gap analysis of current systems to the proposed system.
• Detailed functional specifications for development teams.
• Management and supervision of UAT.

Analysis will usually require a holistic approach, for example, cross-checking business-related issues and exploring the impact of changes made or required on other systems and business processes. The analyst must understand Mortgage-Backed Securities along with the trade/business workflows that exist to support a front office operation.

Working with a demanding user base from top tier investment banks, the BA must be capable of communicating on the users’ terms on all technology and methodology related issues.

He/she will ensure that deliverables and the process are understood and contribute to projects being on schedule and meeting client needs. The BA will therefore play an integral part in maintaining and developing client relationships.

Salary will be in the $90K - $170K range plus benefits.
Based in the New York office of an international trading & risk systems consultancy.

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant trading and/or sales experience in investment banking.
• Strong experience in working with traders and senior IT staff in investment banks.
• Significant exposure to capturing business requirements for trading systems, primarily in the front office, but ideally with exposure to middle-office, P&L and risk reporting.
• Demonstrable expertise in Mortgage-Backed Securities, including pricing and risk management.
• Candidates who can demonstrate understanding of both the cash and derivatives area within the Fixed Income and Credit markets will be given preference.
• The candidate will need to be IT literate (but not to developer level) i.e. have an appreciation and understanding of the software development lifecycle and the role played by BAs in development of specifications, use-cases and formal deliverable testing.
• Understanding of multi-site delivery and interactions between system components deployed in multiple centers: currencies, aggregation reporting, local conventions, etc.
• This is a client-facing role. Good interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills are essential. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with both business users and software developers.
