Hi all,

We are looking to implement FIX on our end and we came across CFI code in standard.I have a few questions I wanted to clarify before we start using this field -

  1. Given that the CFI code is maintained by ISO, does FIX as a standard require a license from ISO?
  2. As a user of FIX, if I rely on CFI codes in my application for building some logic by instrument types, do I need to get authorization/license from ISO prior to using it?

Hi Abishek,
short response: No, neither.
longer response: look at the latest ISO variant. check from the busniess logic whether CFI is sufficient or other/additional fields describing instrument type (characteristics) is worth looking at.
