how to handle allocation amendment

If cleint send us one for and 4 allocation, 1,2,3,4. Say under FIX 4.0, if client want to modify allocation message 2, can they just send Sell-side a allocation message with AllocTransType=3 on message 2?
Or do they have to cancel all 4 messsage and resent again?
