Pre/Pos Allocation

Imported from previous forum

Hi there,

I have another 2 questions

  1. Can we define (and how) pre & pos allocation in FIX?
  2. if client sent us 4 allocation (a,b,c,d) on one single order, is it possible for client to amend only one alloction say, a? Or do they need to cancel all 4 and re-send a,b,c,d?

Thanks,

Vivien

Hi,

There is an implementation guide to the use of the FIX Allocation message in FIX 4.0 and 4.2 together with a draft copy for use in FIX 4.4, together with COnfirmations. Current copies of both are available on this website within Working Groups, Allocations.

The current implementation guides are aimed at defining a "level zero" implementation. They suggest that the "replace" type should not be used. Simplier to cancel the original allocation and then re-instruct.

Within 4.0 and 4.2, the use of the replace message type should include all details as on the original instruction together with the required changes. The 4.4 specification aims to support the ability to reject a single account/allocation within the original Allocation Instruction messsage and then to be repair on a replace type message the details for the rejected account. But a number of scenarios have been identified that lead to complexities in handling this. Hence the recommendation to omit from the current implementation guides.
