You will require a FIX compliant Order Management system(OMS) and a FIX Network(to connect).

OMS will be exchange facing and will do the Direct Market access(DMA)

Network will connect Broker to the Buy-Side any where on the Globe.

Hi Kalyani,

For implementing FIX connectivity for your business you need to integrate FIX engine to your system.

The integration steps are as below:

  1. Determine trading requirements( what kind of trading will be done).

  2. Evaluate counterparty and their ability to use FIX.

  3. Select FIX engine( Buy vs Build).

  4. Select middleware( how application will interface with FIX engine).

  5. Network options.

  6. Testing

a)internally - trade simulators

b)Counterparties.

Hi Kalyani,

It would help if you were a bit more explicit on how & were you want to use FIX. FIX provides for a wide variety of messages, and can be used in different contexts. Some questions that I would have -

  1. Do you want to use it for Pre-Trade/Trade/Post-Trade workflows?
  2. What kind of counterparty do you want to connect to - Exchange/Investment Firm/Business Network?
  3. Are you trying to build a generic solution, or are you trying to connect to a specific (single) counterparty?

These answers will help put a context around your requirements, and then I could try to provide you more relevant answers.
