Mapping Swift 502s to FIX and vice versa

There is a lot of interest in mapping Swift and FIX.

Has anyone succesfully implemented mapping from a Swift 502 to FIX and from FIX into a 502?

Are there any issues with the data provided from those 2 messages? Is there anything missing from one format or the other?

Whilst there are some field-level data mapping problems, some other issues concern the order state change matrices (see appendix D). For example FIX has the concept of a “pending” order state, which really doesn’t map that well.

SWIFT have done a mapping from FIX to MT502 - I understand it’s only valid in that direction (not from SWIFT to FIX). For details, start by contacting your local SWIFT rep. If that doesn’t work give me a call at the number below and I’ll give you the name and number of a contact at SWIFT.
