There appears to be a lot of email notifications being sent out to people at the moment and I was wondering if we could limit this please. Nicki needed to move some documents yesterday to different folders and each person on that group was being notified of these changes.
Is there a way that we can limit notifications to be something that are only emailed out when the person making the change wishes that to be the case please?
Not supported at the moment, but there is a request logged (via Kathleen) as a feature request, and an approach has been analysed and validated.
The proposed approach is to suppress notifications by provision of separate "save" and "save and notify" options to the user, and also a process that detects and intercepts multiple "saves" on the same post within a short (site setting defineable) timeframe, and makes the user confirm an "are you sure" option if they persist with "save and notify":-
JIRA Issue Ticket FTCFPLPO-22 refers for those with JIRA access.
The user can however manage the basis on which they receive notifications at an individual level.
Reasons they might be recieving one include because they are "following" FPLPO, or are following the group in which the content is posted (which could be a Discussion Category, Committee, Document Library, etc.)
The settings for this can be managed from the "following" menu option on the "Settings" menu
