Hello all,

I need to simulate orders arriving at my FIX engine from a buy-side client. Does TransactTools OpenFIX (or any other freeware/free service) support that sort of thing?

I’d like something that could read orders from a file, and then send me messages representing those orders. I’d like to be able to specify individual tag values to see how my FIX engine responds in particular circumstances.

If anyone knows of anything, I’d be most grateful.

Andrew,

OpenFIX is a free public utility maintained by TransactTools which is extended periodically based on user feedback. At this time it only supports Equities and Fixed Income (bonds) securities (note: Open FIX does not support FIX 4.4 session level tests).

It sends and receives messages as both buyside and sellside allowing you to certify that your engine is FIX compliant.

We do offer a commercial version of the FIX certification platform, ttCERT, which will support all business and session scenarios for all FIX versions, and allows user-specified messages to be sent in and out for testing.

Andrew,

B2BITS test client allows to read FIX messages from the file and send them to FIX Engine.

It does support all type of messages for all FIX versions and all asset classes.

You can change tags/values in FIX messages to see how your FIX Engine processes them.

Have a look at www.xlfix.com. The tool works as a Excel plugin so you could import files into Excel to use it. VBA support is also present.
