Trading Protocol Question

I’m fairly new to FIX and financial trading in general. So here is my question, while looking at the Aegis AthenaGateway it states the following:

The AGS supports connectivity to NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, INET, ARCA, CME, CME, CBOE, eCBOT, NYMEX using, as appropriate, high speed implementations of native protocols (e.g. CMS, CTCI, OUCH, QIX, FIX 4.X).

Yet on the ECN/Exchanges support page NASDAQ does not seem to support any versions of FIX, so I’m guess NASDAQ has their own protocol if so can someone please tell me the name of this protocol thanks.

Also if you can list other trading protocols that someone who is just starting out should know about that would be very helpful thanks.
