BATS Trading (www.batstrading.com) would like to request a “FIX Exchange code”. What steps are necessary to get one assigned? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Since FIX 4.3 markets are identified by ISO 10383 Market Identifier Codes. You can apply for a new ISO Market Identifier Code at http://www.iso15022.org/MIC/Request_new_MIC.htm

Reuters Exchange Codes are used for versions prior to FIX 4.3. For a new Reuters Exchange Code you may have to get in touch with FPL (fpl@fixprotocol.org).

FIX still provides exchange codes in lieu of a MIC.

In this case, we’ve assigned BATS the value of 54. The complete list can be found at http://www.fixprotocol.org/specifications/ex_other.shtml
