A few months ago I happened upon the FIX trading community while trying to educate myself about the nature of financial market infrastructure. I’ve been reading the community’s documentation, presentations, etc and it’s been very helpful. I see that there are FIX certifications for firms that want to signify their compliance with the protocol, but I was wondering if there is some other branch of certifications aimed at developers or software engineers who want to demonstrate that they have become proficient in working with the protocol? If any such certifications exist, or if there are other related resources I should look into, I would appreciate if somebody could help direct me to them.
Please forgive me if this isn’t what you’re looking for, as I’ve only done a cursory search to see what was out there. I’ve stumbled across a few business-level certifications:
These don’t appear to have any regulatory bodies behind them, so I can’t speak to how necessary they really are.
In my case, I haven’t been able to find anything for an individual contributor or developer to demonstrate via certification that they have a comprehensive understanding of the protocol. I was hoping something out there like this might exist.
Correct, these are commercial (product) offerings without involvement of the FIX Trading Community. They also seem to test applications rather than people. FIX Trading Community does not define or provide certificates for compliance with the FIX Protocol beyond the publications related to the specification (https://www.fixtrading.org/online-specification/, https://fiximate.fixtrading.org/).
