Department Overview
Technology: Fixed Income Technology. Application Management function to deliver a key interface to the Trading Areas along with Troubleshooting, problem Management and first line application support.
The London Support Team forms part of the overall Global Application Support team where the main locations are in London, New York and Tokyo.

The team is global, with development and support resources in London, New York and Asia.

Main function of the job
First point of contact for Fixed Income traders. Analyze and possibly resolve all issues traders have with all their trading applications.
Liaise with development teams and provide them with detailed description and background of the problem, if the solution can not be provided by the first line support team. Track the status of the problem solution and continuously feedback progress to traders until issues are solved.

• P&L Calculations

• End-Of-Day Processing

• Reference or Historical Data
• Bloomberg terminal

Main duties/responsibilities
The team has following areas of responsibility:-
• Team member covering 6:00AM-8PM Business hours
• Continuously improve the start of day checks as well as proactive intraday monitoring
• Identify manual processes that could be automated
• Ensure existing documentation is up to date, identify any areas that maintenance may be required
• Managing and ensuring sufficient communication takes place in the event of a service outage

Troubleshooting
Besides system and business impact, should be able to identify the root cause category, e.g. whether the outage was caused by:
• Software bug
• Improper release or change process
• Vendor problem outside our control
• User error
• Bad data coming into the system

Team Structure
The team is based in London but works in partnership with the teams in NY and Tokyo and there is a follow-the sun handover, where start of day checks and monitoring are done by different teams during their working hours

Shift Rota is in place. Out of hours support is covered on a rotational basis amongst the support engineers…

Qualifications/Education Required
Degree/Relevant market experience

Qualifications/Education Preferred
Computer Science or Engineering.

Experience Required
The successful candidate needs

  1. Very good communication skills. This includes the ability to communicate and work under pressure in a fast moving environment.
  2. Business skills to understand the problems. Solve the problems or escalate them to right 2nd line support team
  3. IT skills to understand the background of electronic trading and enhance the tools used in the support area.
  • Excellent customer facing skills with demonstrable ability of building relationships with traders.

  • Must be able to demonstrate practical experience of day-to-day support including end-user queries/call handling, problem resolution of Trade/Pricing issues and taking ownership of end to end resolution

  • Good understanding of issues related to electronic trading environment for rates business

  • Solid understanding of the workflow and processes involved with trading systems from execution right through to Settlement.

  • Strong understanding of pricing and risk management of the following products

Treasuries: Bills, Strips, Bond and IR Futures
Agencies: Bullets, Discount Notes, Callables (European, American, Bermudan), Supras & Sovereigns, Commercial Paper (coming soon), IR Swaps.
Inflation: TIPS, I-Strips, Inflation Swaps
Derivatives: IR Swaps - all flavours, Caps, Floors, Swaptions (European, Bermudan), Deposits, FRAs
Prop Trading: All of the above, plus Equity index futures, ETF’s, single-stocks
EGB/GILTS: Strips, Linkers, Futures, Swaps, Bonds.

Experience Preferred
Knowledge of Remedy problem management system

Understanding of ECN’s and gateway technology as used for electronic trading

Good knowledge of relational databases
