Performance testing in Verifix

Imported from previous forum

Hi,

has anyone ever used the Verifix testing tool for any Performance testing?
I was wondering if Verifix could be used to connect/disconnect to a large number of different sessions simultaneously?
I guess this could be set up in a csv spreadsheet but am not too sure how to go about this.
Also, I was hoping to measure ‘round trip times’ of a large number of orders through Verifix. Does Verifix have the capacity to measure things like this?

many thanks for any help you can give

cheers

Hi Graham:

Many of our users do use VeriFIX for performance/load testing with a large number of sessions simultaneously. This can be performed in a number of different ways, though I would recommend using the playlist option for best results. You can create a playlist of multiple sessions each launching its own scenario; all session/scenario pairs in the playlist will launch simultaneously if no dependencies are specified. You can find the ‘Playlist Editor’ under the ‘Tools’ menu in VeriFIX. There are some preloaded examples you can select from the dropdown you can use as a reference. Once you have created your playlist, you may also run it in batch mode for better performance as it will launch in the command line as opposed to the GUI. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

Depending on the number of sessions launched and the activity performed by each session, you may come across hardware limitations working with a single instance of VeriFIX on a single system. If you find yourself leveraging multiple systems for this test, I encourage you to take a look at an add-on tool we have for VeriFIX called the VeriFIX Test Pilot. The Test Pilot allows you to synchronize and coordinate testing of multiple remote VeriFIX instances from a single work station. I’ll be happy to provide additional information on this - please feel free to contact me directly.

For round trip time calculation, we also have VeriFIX Metrics. This tool will allow you to gather statistics on round trip times, throughput rates, inbound and outbound statistics and a number of other useful metrics. Once again, please contact me directly on this and I’ll be happy to provide additional information.

Thanks,

kd
